Expansion will add 200,000 square feet and up to 200 new jobs
Global industrial technology leader ABB and Mississippi Development Authority today announced that ABB is investing $36m to expand its advanced technology manufacturing operations in Senatobia, MS.
ABB, which opened its Senatobia operations in 2016, plans to employ around 350 workers after the expansion. The expansion will strengthen local capabilities for full production of ABB Tmax XT circuit breakers, increasing capacity and further supporting customers‘ lead-time and delivery needs. Other products manufactured in Senatobia include Emax 2 Breakers, TruONE Automatic Transfer Switch (ATS) Assemblies and other electrical switches. ABB employs nearly 1,400 throughout Mississippi in four locations – Byhalia, Columbus, Crystal Springs, and Senatobia.
“Since 2010, ABB has invested over $14 billion in the United States, and the U.S. represents the largest market for our products,” said Greg Scheu, President of the Americas for ABB. “We will continue to invest in the products we make here, as well as the people who make them, as we expand to meet customer demand.“
“ABB’s decision to expand in Senatobia just more than two years after opening is a shining example of a public/private partnership benefiting the people of our great state. Mississippians are hard workers, and I know ABB’s new employees will continue the company’s legacy of manufacturing quality, high-tech electrical components,” Gov. Phil Bryant said.
The Mississippi Development Authority is providing assistance for infrastructure and building improvements. The city of Senatobia and Tate County are providing standard property tax exemptions.
“ABB’s expansion, creating 200 new career opportunities, is another great milestone for the company, its employees and the people of Tate County,” said MDA Executive Director Glenn McCullough, Jr. “We salute the Tate County Economic Development Foundation, the city of Senatobia and Tate County for their teamwork with MDA, which was instrumental in bringing this economic development win to our state.”
